Cijin
A+ A-
The long-shaped Cijin Island was originally connected to Kaohsiung city by sandbanks. A harbor expansion project cut Cijin off from Kaohsiung, turning Cijin into a separate island. Shuttle boats travel between Gushan District of Kaohsiung and the island. Despite the construction of a cross-harbor tunnel, tourists still prefer the 10-minute cruise on the sea. Merely 200 meters in width, Cijin island is a great place appreciating the beautiful Kaohsiung Harbor and 85 Sky Tower on the side facing Kaohsiung. You can also ascend to the top of the lighthouse built in the Qing Dynasty to get a comprehensive view of Kaohsiung Harbor and the bay. The other side of Cijin features beach, coastal walking trails and a nature reserve, a great option for family fun. The old street in front of Tienhou Temple is the best destination for a sumptuous meal, thanks to a conglomerate of seafood restaurants on “temple street.”
