Taichung, Changhua, NantouA Region with Magnificent Nature and Cultural Beauty
Central Taiwan includes the mountainous Nantou and the extensive open plain in the western coast, which was primarily an agricultural area in early times. However, due to a transition to industrial development, central Taiwan has now shifted its focus to technology and high-value industries. With roads open in all directions and completion of transportation infrastructure, central Taiwan is gradually becoming a key area for international trade and small, medium-sized factories. High-tech industries bring people to central Taiwan and further turn this region (especially Taichung City) into a hyper-competitive market for real estate, shopping malls, and catering. In fact, many popular gourmet foods in Taiwan originated from Taichung. While Changhua has a precious reserve of traditions and culture, Nantou boasts a rich deposit of natural resources. With its natural and cultural heritage, the districts of Taichung, Changhua and Nantou are now a major attraction which draws people from both ends of the island.
